23-year-old Mass. man killed in rollover crash was thrown from truck

A 23-year-old Bridgewater man was killed when his car hit a tree and flipped into a marsh in Middleborough on Monday morning, throwing him into a small brook, according to police.

The man, who was not identified, was the only person inside the 2015 white GMC pickup truck, Middleborough Police Chief Joseph Perkins said.

The crash was reported to police around 11:41 a.m. on Monday. When officers arrived to the area of Fuller Street near the Halifax and Middleborough town line Monday morning, they found the truck had hit a tree and flipped over into marsh water, Perkins said. The man was thrown into the water in a small brook near the road.

Middleborough Fire Department divers attempted to rescue the man from the water, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the man was driving at a high speed before the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Middleborough police and State Police assigned to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office.
