A 20-year-old man was identified by Boston Police as the person who died in a shooting at a Dorchester barbershop on Monday.
Elijah Ricardo Clunie, of Dorchester, died Monday after a shooting at 184 Washington St.
Around 12:55 p.m. Monday, Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said there was a shooting where two people had been shot near the intersection of Washington and Erie streets.
Paramedics treated the men at the scene before they were taken to a hospital, McLaughlin said. One of the men was declared dead at a hospital, and the other was found to have non-fatal injuries.
Officials said Wednesday the second man is expected to survive.
Investigators do not believe the shooting was random, McLaughlin said. Officers canvassed the area for witnesses and security footage that might have captured the shooting Monday afternoon.
The two men were inside Exclusive Barber Shop — which is located near the intersection — when they were shot, WCVB reported. Police believe they were customers at the barbershop.
Homicide detectives are asking the public for help in investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting, who witnessed it or might have video of the scene is asked to call them at 617-343-4470. Anonymous tips can be submitted to police by calling 1-800-494-TIPS.
Additionally, officials said anyone who needs support can call Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team (NTT) for free at 617-431-0125.
