A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after falling from a window onto their driveway, according to the Worcester Police Department.

Police officers, members of the Worcester Fire Department and Worcester EMS all arrived near 490 Shrewsbury St. on Friday afternoon, according to a post on the police department’s Facebook page. They met with the father of the child, who was taking him to the emergency room, the post reads.

The father told the officials that his son had fallen from the window of their home and that he was unresponsive. Officers performed CPR on the child, who was driven to a nearby hospital. The child’s identity has not been revealed.

Lt. Sean Murtha told MassLive on Saturday that the child is still in critical condition.

An investigation by detectives revealed that the child had fallen through a closed window screen and fallen 10 to 12 feet to the driveway below, according to the department. The home is located in the Hamilton Street neighborhood.

The incident is still under investigation but it appears to be accidental as of Friday, police said.
