Two people who fell through the ice at a Shrewsbury pond were hospitalized on Monday, the Shrewsbury Fire Department said.
At around 7:23 a.m., people near Dean Park Pond called the fire department about two people who fell through the pond’s icy surface, the fire department said in a statement.
Shrewsbury firefighters and police and Worcester EMS arrived in the area to find the two people along the shoreline, the statement read. First responders helped the two people get out of the pond.
“It was determined that the two were ice skating on the pond and fell through somewhere near the middle of the pond,” the fire department said.
Both people were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
