An 18-year-old drowned in Plug Pond in Haverhill Sunday afternoon, according to police.
Haverhill police went to the pond, also known as Lake Saltonstall, at 1:31 p.m. after learning an 18-year-old man had entered the water and not resurfaced, the department said in a brief statement posted to Facebook.
Haverhill police, firefighters, the city’s harbor master, Massachusetts State Police and the Beverly Dive Team all searched the pond for the missing teen. The 18-year-old’s body was found at 3:07 p.m. around 30 feet from the shoreline, police said.
