13-year-old girl killed crossing the street in Mass.

A 13-year-old girl was struck by a car as she crossed Belmont Street in Worcester Friday afternoon and later died at a hospital, police said.

Worcester police learned of a crash involving a pedestrian near 370 Belmont St. around 2:28 p.m. Friday afternoon, the department said in a Facebook post. When police arrived, they found a 13-year-old girl with serious injuries and the Acura that hit her. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the Acura was heading west on Belmont Street, which is Route 9, and the girl was hit as she crossed the street, according to police.
