1 dead, 1 hurt after car slams into house in Dorchester, police say

A man was pronounced dead and another person was taken to a hospital with a broken leg after a car slammed into a house in Dorchester in an incident that police first believed was a shooting.

Boston police went to 24 Fifield St. in Dorchester for a report of a car into a house at 8:34 p.m. Friday, according to authorities.

When they arrived, police found two people inside a car, one of whom — the driver, who has not been named — was declared dead at the scene. The other person inside the car was taken to a hospital, Sgt. Detective John Boyle, a Boston police spokesman, told MassLive.

Boyle said the incident “came across as a shooting” but police have not been able to confirm if the man was shot and are now waiting for the results of an autopsy.

Boston homicide detectives are investigating the incident and police are seeking the public’s help, according to Boyle.

Boston Inspectional Services also went to the scene to assess the house, Boyle said.
